Mt Takao is about 1 hour from Tokyo by train.  It is a beautiful area and it is a very popular hiking spot.  There is also a wonderful restaurant called Ukai Toriyama which we visit often, to have a break from Tokyo and eat delicious food.  Have a look at the links above to see more photos.
