These photos are from our last trip to Kyoto at the end of October with our
friends Rowena and John. The autumn colours were just starting to come out
and looked beautiful contrasted with the lush green of the trees and moss at the
temples.
Old and new in Kyoto. The view from the hills near Gion.
Kinkakuji Temple
The famous Golden Pavilion. There is a photo of this in all it's glory
on the main page. Here are a few different views.
Ginkakuji Temple
The Silver Pavilion. I love the gardens here and find it very peaceful
and comtemplative.
Being interviewed by English students at Ginkakuji.
Close to the temple is this lovely walk along the canal. It is called the
'Philosophers Walk' because a famous philosophy teacher from the university used
to walk here every day.
Ryoanji Temple
This is most famous for it's dry stone garden but also has very beautiful,
lush landscape gardens as well.

This bamboo grove wasn't at Ryoanji, but we can't remember where exactly we took
the photo. I love
the beautiful silver-grey colour.
The Gion District
My favourite part of Kyoto. Here you can see so much in one small area
- shopping, teahouses, temples, pagodas and maybe some geisha.
