The Ukai Toriyama restaurant in Takao has a firefly festival over the summer.  We went along one Friday evening for the delicious food and to see the spectacle.

        Some views of the garden at Ukai Toriyama.  Other times we had come for lunch and eaten in one of the teahouses, but this time we ate in an old farmhouse.  It had a very steep roof and was on three floors.  When it was still being used as a farmhouse, silkworms would have been kept on the top floor over the winter to keep them warm.

        Some of the things kept in the farmhouse.  The doll was kept in the display alcove along with a seasonal scroll and this screen was in the entranceway.

  This is the best we could do for a photo of the fireflies!  Not very easy to take photos in the dark!
