Tsuyu (the rainy season) started a couple of weeks ago.  Suddenly the character of Tokyo changes overnight, with umbrellas blossoming everywhere - for the rain now, instead of the sun.  At this time of year, for about two spectacular weeks, the irises blossom as well.

There were lots of photographers at the iris garden and an artist.  He had finished his painting when we were there and was sitting back enjoying the view.

The waterlilies are also beginning to flower now, but aren't quite at their best yet.  Here's a photo anyway.
