Here are some photos of the castle and us having a wonderful time, eating
lots of delicious food and enjoying the splendid surroundings.
The entrance to the castle. It was built in 1103, so this year is
Amberley's 900th anniversary! The portcullis is put down at midnight and
then raised again at 7am.
This is our room, complete with four poster bed and open fire. Very
romantic!
Some views of the inside of the castle. Our room was in the main part,
just across from the Queen's room where the restaurant is. We had two
wonderful dinners there and the English breakfast is among the best I've ever
had.
The gardens inside the castle are rather elegant. It is possible to climb
up onto the battlements, through the tower in the first picture.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of pigeons living inside, so it's a bit
mucky! A great view from the top and Glen took some of the photos from
there.
Us at dinner. We dressed up quite a bit, which was a lot of fun. I
think Amberley has one of the best restaurants I've been to, and a great wine
list as well!
